Bloggers Fall Tour: Week 1

It’s September!  Football has started, there are pretty notebooks in every store that beg me to buy them, and scarves, flannels and great boots are filling the department stores.  That could only mean one thing – it’s fall!

Myself and some of the amazingly talented bloggers I met at Haven have pooled our autumn energies to bring you a fall feast of decorating goodness.  Each week is a different theme, and one of us will post every day for four weeks.

But first, let me introduce the other ladies you’ll get to know:

Coco:  The Crowned Goat
Angie:  The Altered Past
Lisa:  Concord Cottage
Bobbi:  BluWaterLife
Jennifer and Vicki:  2 Bees in a Pod

I’m honored to kick things off for Week 1:  Tablescapes – my favorite!

Those are white beans (bought at the grocery store – a bag for $2) in a simple glass vase from a craft hot glued to a glass candle stick holder from a dollar store).
My goal was not to break the bank, and use what I could.  I have a “prop closet” filled with random decor type items including vases, fabric, candle holders, flowers, shells, ribbon, etc.  Every woman should have a prop closet!  I may have to do a post on it in the future.
This was also my first go-around with using a big girl camera!  I have amazing friends.  So amazing, that my dear friend Jess loaned me her old Canon camera (and 50mm lens) to take better pics for my posts.  This is a huge step up from my iPhone.  I probably took 200 photos figuring out the settings, but was excited to see my photos starting to come out bright and crisp.  I did have to make a stop to the camera store down the street to buy a tripod.  I’m looking forward to taking more this weekend for future fall posts!
The leaves are from Hobby Lobby, painted white (any old spray paint will do).  I bought a bronze glitter spray paint and misted it over the leaves, too light to be seen in the photos.
The napkins I bought at At Home, package of 4 was $8.  I’ll use them often.
The table runner is actually extra fabric I had in my prop closet and I folded into a runner.
I have a confession…  I am not by nature a seasonal decorator.  Christmas and Halloween (I have a black cat) are my exceptions.  This may shock some of you if you know my mom.  She is the Goddess of Seasonal and Holiday Decor.  I mean for real, she’s got game and a basement that is chock full of holiday what not.
The pumpkins are from At Home (10 in a package for $5).  I spray painted them with a silvery taupe spray paint I had in my garage, and then misted them with a silver metallic spray paint.
I realized that my little bar in my dining room was ‘fall colors’, so I had to include a picture of it.
I hope you all enjoyed a look at my fall dining room table!  Please join us tomorrow to see Lisa’s tablescape at the Concord Cottage!
