Hey all! If this is your first time to The Striped House, welcome! I’m so excited to be part of the fall 2015 edition of the One Room Challenge. In case your not familiar with ORC, it’s a 6 week design challenge coordinated by Linda of Calling It Home. A lot of incredible bloggers link up their rooms, and it’s truly inspirational to see what we can all do in a short period.
This is my first ORC, and I decided to makeover my master bedroom. It could certainly be called ‘finished’ as it is right now. I actually get a lot of compliments on it. But I want to make it darker, moodier, sexier maybe…;)
Right now, it’s black, white and shade of brown textures. I’m embarrassed that there is an alarm clock (gasp!) and you can see cords (feeling faint), but hey – this is the Before picture right?
Lately I have been obsessed with black walls. I already have two rooms with black walls in my house – my office and guest bedroom. But now I want to go black or a dark metallic in my bedroom. I will always love white bedding, so I’m just looking to add some more texture to my bed. I also want to add more prints to my bedroom. Here are my inspiration photos:
Source and it’s from Christine Dovey, one of the amazing 20 bloggers picked for ORC!
So here’s the plan:
- Paint Curtains
- Wall Paint
- Paint Trim
- Fabric on closet doors
- side curtains on bed
- Paint Ceiling (maybe?)
- New light fixture
- New focal piece behind bed
- paint smaller table
- Makeover my nightstand table
- Change out artwork, throw pillows, lampshades?
I actually got started on a couple of these items today. Check back next week to see the progress! I better get back to work on my list 😉
