The bottom one is of one of my favorite songs “Sweet Disposition” by the Temper Trap. Go look it up on iTunes, it’s the best.
Went to the hardware store and found the sheets of wood that are cut to approximately 3×4 feet. There’s a variety of types of wood and thickness, etc – so I picked something that was lighter in weight, but would keep flat. Some of the other pieces had started to bow a bit. I asked an employee in the lumber area to cut it to the current dimensions. FYI, they’ll do it for free!
I used an Ebony stain by Minwax to get the dark background. All you need is the smallest can available. I used a white acrylic paint from Dick Blick for the letters. That’s it!
PS – there are two nails sticking out about an inch that the board is resting on. The top is actually “stuck” to the wall with removable adhesive squares.

I love that Temper Trap song sooo much! Thanks for sharing! I think it would be great for my new linky party starting this Saturday at 8pm called “Found & Foraged” Can’t wait to party with you at http://www.houseofhipsters.com
I know, isn’t that song the best ever?! Can’t get enough of it. I’ll link it up to your party this weekend!
I love the stain color that you used on these boards. I have done some wood projects with scraps around the house, but I need to remember the Lowes guys will cut it down to size for me for my next wood project! Love that song and those lyrics! Thanks for linking up with us at Motivational Monday, hope to see you back next week!
