Hello friends. I am so very sorry for being MIA the last couple weeks. The Striped House has been more like The Nut House lately (big landscaping job, hacked cell phone, car shopping, lot of service calls at my house), combined with a long stint as a sick ward (sinus headache, turned allergies, turned bronchitis). Things are still super hectic, but at least I’m starting to feel better.
There has been progress on my garage makeover. You can catch up on my garage plans and update in case you’re new to The Striped House. I’m participating in the One Room Challenge again this fall, and we’re officially at the half way point. I’m trying to get caught up from lost time while I was sick.
Here is the highlights reel of the updates for my garage:

Door in the house and the trim around it has been primed and is ready for paint.
The shelves that were originally going to stay off, ended up getting a couple coats of primer. We re-worked the location for some. We took some off the wall pictured above and moved them to the photo below
The work bench got a couple coats of blue paint. There is a long shelf that runs above it that also got some blue paint.
We hung a piece of plywood on the wall, primed it up, and put some industrial strength hooks on it to hold my ladders. The dolly on the right and the small ladder shelves are hung up with unused shelving brackets that came from some of the shelves that I’m not putting back on the wall.

The same thing happened on the opposite wall. We hung up some plywood that I already had in my garage, primed and painted it. We found a basic wall track system at the hardware store and bought a lot of hooks. Hint: Make a list of everything you need to hang before you buy hooks.
We also filled the bigger cracks in my garage floor. The plan is still to resurface the floor. I’m pretty jazzed about it.
The goal is to get everything off of the floor in my garage. So far, so good.
I’m in the middle of painting the tool chests and they are going to look so amazing when they’re done. Maybe it was the insane amount of meds I was on a week ago, but I started thinking of a lot of creative things to add to this space. I’m ready to start making pretty things. What about you? 😉
