Bloggers Fall Tour Week 3: Fireplace Mantles

Welcome to Week 3 of our Fall Bloggers Tour!

This week we’ll be showing off our mantles, bookcases or anything else that will hold still and we can style up.  I am so glad I made over my fireplace and built-ins this summer.

The birch tree branches were a find at a thrift store a few years ago.  $3 for all of them!

The crates are a favorite.  People ask me all the time where I got them.  No joke, I went dumpster diving for them.  Behind a grocery store.  In south Omaha.  For a few weeks, every other day, I would non-chalantly drive behind this grocery store that still get their produce in wood crates.  I would keep the car running, hop out, do a lap around their dumpsters, grab the goods, throw em in my Volkswagen and speed off.  I probably think I’m being really sneaky, and there are probably a crew of employees at the store that watched me everyday on their lunch break.
My dad asked me where I got them, so I told him.  His response: “that’s my girl”.
I made the burlap wreath a few years ago.
I hope you’ll all join me tomorrow at Concord Cottage to see Lisa’s mantle!
