For the longest time, I’ve wanted to put something fun and painted by my front door. I seem to be addicted to wood signs stained in Ebony and painted with white acrylic. This is my third. See my first two here.
Here’s the board plain. I found the straightest piece of plywood (not too heavy), and painted it with Ebony stain. Remember, they’ll cut it for you at the hardware store.
This was the first time I got to use my new (old) projector! I was so excited. Special thanks to my friend Kristin’s mom for finding this at Goodwill for me. Best $25 dollars spent!
I designed the text on PicMonkey, cause I’m last girl in the world to learn Photoshop… Here is the text as is. I then printed it on a transparency. Some printers actually have a transparency print option. My HP does not, and it went through pretty well. The areas where the letters are chipped away below came out more chipped in the print, but it worked well.
Here is what I wish I would have done differently… I should have leaned it against a wall, and not a couch that did not extend the height of the sign. The very top line isn’t completely straight, but hopefully I will be the only person that notices!
I will seal it and put it outside by my front door in the spring. I don’t want to ruin it outside now in middle of this frigid Nebraska winter!
I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial. I’m sure I’ll be using my projector a lot more in the future!
