The last six weeks have been busy making over my master bedroom for the One Room Challenge, coordinated by Linda at Calling It Home. Here are the final results! This was my first time doing the challenge and I’m definitely going to do it again! You can see how the room started here. I liked my original bedroom and got a lot of compliments on it, but I was ready for something more contemporary and edgier. I didn’t want to go completely modern, so I made sure to keep some softer elements in the space.
Here’s what I did over the last couple weeks:
- painted my walls and trim
- covered my closet doors in fabric
- put up new drapes on my canopy
- painted my curtains
- made over a side table
- changed out the pillows on my bed
- swapped out the flowers for artwork behind the bed
Update on the Fabric Covered Closet Doors
I get asked about my closet doors often. “How did the fabric hold up?” Surprisingly well. I did have to reinforce the edges that went around the sides of each door. I used a hot glue gun, it’s worked out great. I did trim the bottom of one door where the front of the door was rubbing up against the track on the carpet.
I still don’t feel like the room is 100% yet. I couldn’t decide on a new light, and I want to get some new art work for the walls. And I’m thinking of moving the curtains into my guest room? I did decide to do this at the very end of the first week, so I didn’t give myself the planning time I would have liked. So maybe there will be a After The Final Rose type of post when I feel like I’ve got everything the way I want it 😉 Thank you Linda for coordinating these challenges, I’m looking forward to next spring’s challenge!
