Hello friends! It’s been a busy week around The Striped House. It’s the final stretch of the One Room Challenge and it’s that’s critical time where you really see the room start to take shape. Funny thing is that it isn’t always what you pictured. So I reassess and make a new game plan. But that’s what makes this whole six week process of crazy so fun. Right? 😉
You can catch up on all the craziness from the very beginning here:
The most noticeable update in the room is the light fixture and medallion. I actually purchased the medallion for my master bedroom light, but that plan is not working out. That will be another blog post for another time. As mentioned earlier, there is always a game plan revision and my revision included using the medallion in my guest bedroom. I really like how it balances out the casualness of the IKEA light fixture.
I realized I never show the opposite angles of the room, so above is what the room looks like from the right side of the window. Below is what the wall opposite of the bed looks like. Restyling the bookcases is on my to do list for the final week. And yes, I group my books by color. You should have seen my planner in college. It looked like Rainbow Bright got her hands on it. Yeah.
I really wanted the IKEA SONGE mirror, but they disconnected the version with the curved top corners — and it was only $100. Sigh. I looked online for lookalikes, but most were pretty pricey. I found this one at Bed Bath & Beyond (their website). If you signed up for their emails, you got 20% of your first order. They also had a promo on free shipping. Win Win! It was black, and is currently undergoing a gold makeover on my dining room table.
This afternoon, Dad and I started the process of putting up crown molding. We have two walls done, and it’s looks great! It’s our first go around of doing this, and fingers crossed the last two pieces go in smoothly. I can see how people want to put it in every room. I think he could read my mind because at one point he said “we’re not doing this in every room.” Haha, I’m nothing if not predictable.
I’m off to go figure out accessories and artwork, and see if I can pull a magic headboard out of my hat in the next 48 hours… Stay tuned for next week’s final update!
Looking great! I love the dark wall color with the woven light fixture.
Jen, you are such a talent! GORGEOUS! Those walls make everything in this room pop. LOVING that light.
Love the dark walls and that amazing pendant!
Love that light fixture! WOW, you’ve been busy and kudos on DIY crown molding! This is going to look fab! Let’s do this!
Jen I adore the lighting and I can’t wait for the reveal! I love the direction the space is going in. As a fellow ORC participant it’s been wonderful to gather some fantastic inspiration. I’d love for you to share your progress at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Our readers would love to see it. The gathering is at http://www.decortoadore.net
Love that light fixture, and always love a dark wall. Looking great!
Wow…that pendant is the perfect organic accent against those walls. Beautiful.
The gold mirror will look great on the dark wall. The crown molding is such a nice finishing touch. I wish we could do that – maybe when we have more money and more time! My ORC is pretty basic!
