Hello friends!   Mohawk Home asked me to join up for with some other bloggers (who all have beautiful homes!) for a spring home tour, and I immediately thought of my dining room.  It’s s great room, but it needed a bit of a boost if you know what I mean 😉

If you remember in my kitchen refresh post from last week, I talked about my commitment issues with color.  (The struggle is real!)   This why I went classic dark & light contrast for the rug under my dining table.  I won’t get tired of the colors and the print is timeless in a vintage art deco inspired pattern.  I can change out everything else in the room depending on the season, holiday, etc.  This is one of the other rugs that I was considering – isn’t the pattern great?!

When I got the rug, I immediately rolled it out.  You know a good quality rug when it immediately lays flat when unrolled.  It’s really soft on bare feet.  And my chairs don’t get hung up on it.

You’re probably thinking “well, then why did you paint the room blue?!”  The bright blue walls was a $50 investment that I can change in one weekend once I’m tired of blue.  I’ve been playing with the idea of going bold in that room, and maybe I just needed to get it out of my system, LOL.

When I decorate for seasons, I take out accessories, throw blankets, pillows, etc that have darker colors.  I love getting out the handful of yellow accents that I have and sprinkle them around the house.

I used to get a bunch of plants, but my black thumb went wild and they were dead within a couple months.  For my spring home tour a month ago, I did buy some flowers at Trader Joe’s, but cats kept going after them, so they went away pretty fast.  I’ve surrendered to the fact that I’m a faux plant kind of girl through and through.

I’m loving how bright and happy the room feels.  And it definitely feels ready for spring!

Mohawk has graciously offered to raffle off one 8×10 rug from their Prismatic collection!!!  Click here to enter.

Hi Sue! I’m so happy that you like the rug as much as I do! The folks at Mohawk just let me know they found it for sale at another site. I updated the link to direct you to that site. Yay for new rugs!
