Hello friends! Today is a different kind of post. It’s my favorite items in my house. These are the things that will go with me wherever I go. Some of these things I’ve had since I moved into my house 12 years ago, and some are more new. And a few of them have a great story behind them!

So here we go!
#1 Desk
My office desk was a Birthday gift from West Elm. I love love love it. It’s actually a dining room table, which is great for us who love having our computer screen and keyboard up higher. Bonus: I can fit any office chair with arms under it.
#2 Bed
The bed in my master bedroom is from ZGallerie. It was one of the first things I bought when I moved into my house. This bed was almost the bed that wasn’t. The guys who delivered and set it up, started to build it ON ITS HEAD! Thank goodness for measuring prior to ordering and being confident it would fit. Sadly, ZGallerie doesn’t carry the bed anymore. Here are some other options I really like:
#3 Floating Gallery Shelves
These shelves were a fun weekend project. They are so fun to have since I can change out the artwork on them as often as I like.
#4 Louis XIV Ghost Chairs & Kitchen Table
I think they are the most beautiful chairs. I saw one for the first time in Domino many years ago, and have wanted one ever since. I lucked out when I found knock off versions at At Home for $99 each. You can find knock off’s on multiple home decor sites.
This is an IKEA classic, the DOCKSTA table. I love how it fits in my kitchen, and doesn’t take up too much visual space with it’s tulip base.
#5 Dresser in the Guest Bedroom
When I did my guest bedroom makeover, I was stuck on the idea of having a vintage art-deco ‘esque dresser. I drove 45 minutes out to a small town where they promote their abundance of thrift shops. It’s great, they have maps (of all of the shops) at every store’s cash register. Raise the tide, people. Raise the tide, and we all succeed. Love it. Anyhoo, I found the dresser at my last stop of the seven stores. I quickly snatched it up. The owner and I tried to fit it into my car, but nope. He said he was driving to my town in an hour and offered to personally drop it off at my house. Yeah, cool huh? God bless the Midwest. You can’t beat it here 🙂
#6 My Collection of White Curtains
When I moved into my house, I had serious design paralysis. So many options and beautiful choices out there. And I like a lot of things. Then I started to realize that if I went with classic choices, I could do no wrong. I have skinny black curtain rods in every room of my house. Three of the four main rooms in my house have curtains I made from the same white material. Two of those three have identical rods and black ring clips at the top. I kept those the same since the rooms open into one another.
#7 Light switch and Outlet Plates
Okay, this may seem pathetic, but I spent a lot of money on them to do my whole house (and they’re not cheap). They’re coming with me 🙂
#8 Dining Room Credenza
This credenza has been passed down through three generations of my family. I actually didn’t know that until after I painted the box white. I love a great midcentury Scandinavian piece of furniture, so this fits in perfectly with my home. It’s also great for holding cookbooks (that I never use), cat food/treats/meds/toys, and placemats. I made over two drawers into custom storage for my camera and equipment.
#9 My Big Light Fixtures
I know it’s given that houses come with light fixtures, but mine most definitely will not 😉
My guest bedroom basket pendant (top left) is from IKEA. You can see more images of it here. My dining room chandelier (top right) is from West Elm. My office chandelier (bottom left) is also from West Elm. My kitchen chandelier (bottom right) always gets a lot of questions: “Are those…wine glasses?” “Can you drink out of them?” Yes and yes. I have an extra 16 wine glasses, so come on over 😉
