Hello friends!
I had full intentions of getting this email to you over the weekend, but in typical room makeover fashion, things never go as planned. And the USPS is not my friend. I am literally waiting on a throw pillow pillow case to take photos of my room!
One of my goals for my living room was to bring the light into the room. I had a sofa in front of one side of the window. The metal mini blinds needed to be well, burned, quite honestly. And the trim work was so 1986. I recently had a friend over who commented on this and this made me realise that I should definitely change my blinds, this same friend recommended that I should check out Shuttercraft blinds for examples of how I could update my room.
Here is the old window. So much beige…!
And here is the new window!
I primed (4 coats?) and painted (2 coats) the framework in Decorator’s White. It’s the same color as the walls and baseboards.
I stained the window woodwork. I learned not to paint the windows. It’s the reason I can’t open the window over my kitchen sink, ha!
I love bamboo blinds. What they lack in providing full privacy, (don’t use them in your bedroom!), they give a great texture, AND a nice contrast to white drapes. I have used them in my guest bedroom, master bathroom and over that little window in my kitchen that will forever remain closed 🙂
Disclaimer: I do not use those bamboo blinds that look like straw glued to your window. Nope. I use darker blinds, with wide flat pieces, and use dark cords woven in between and to pull the blinds up/down.
Final living room makeover photos are coming this week! Sign up below so you’ll be the first to know when I post them 🙂
XO, Jen
